Unincorporated Barrington Illinois-Equestrian Property and Real Estate

With over 75 square miles of real estate in the 60010 zip code-most of it falls under the jurisdication of one of the villages:

• Barrington Village
• Lake Barrington Village
• North Barrington Village
• South Barrington Village
• Inverness Village
• Deer Park Village
• Barrington Hills Village
• Tower Lakes Village
• Port Barrington Village

Each has their own village hall and members which provide community policing for example business permits, building permits, waste service, re-cycling, development and restrictions and so on. Unincorporated Barrington does not have a village, all community policing is handled by the county-one could think of it as one less level of control. There is still a fair amount of real estate that is in unincorporated Barrington.



One of the areas in unincorporated Barrington is suitable as Equestrian Property. Located on the north of the village and south of Route 22, west of Route 59, many of the parcels of land here are 5 to 6 acres and some as high as 12 or 20 acres. This makes them ideal as equestrian properties if you have one or two horses. Many of the parcels here had homes built a long time ago but some of the lots are still vacant. At time of writing there are 5 properties with homes for sale with acreage of 3.85 to 5.75.

Off W Henry Lane there are 3 smaller vacant lots for sale on a new street called Foley Ct. They are 1 acre lots and homes built would face conservation land as seen in my photo below. The conservation area is in the foreground the lots are towards the back.

Barrington Hills is considered the area that offers the most horse property  in The Barrington Area.

If you are looking for a property or home that has enough land and zoned for horses then Barrington Hills is likely going to offer you the most choice. Most of the lots in Barrington Hills are at least 5 acres and many of them will have sand arenas if the land has been used to accommodate a horse. If you need an indoor arena then the choices are going to be more limited.

I recently showed a Barrington Hills property to a potential buyer that has a wonderful indoor arena and it was obvious that the accommodation for the horses was of paramount importance, much more so that the house for the family. That said a buyer will only consider a home if it works for the families needs as well - so sometimes you may have to wait to get the right piece of property for horse and human members of the family.

Barrington Hills Village will not permit anyone to build an indoor arena on a Barrington Hills property. A 5 acre lot is not enough for you to get a permit. If you have 10 or more acres then you are more likely to get approval for an indoor arena in Barrington Hills Illinois.
