Deer Park is a small village that lies within Cook and Lake County in Illinois.  The village is quite small in land mass, covering just 3.7 miles with 1.67% of that being water.  Not only is the village small in land mass, it is small in population as well.  Deer Park had just 3,102 residents according to the 2000 census. 

Deer Park is a very beautiful place to live with expanse homes, places to shop and dine nearby, and the opportunity to get in touch with the great outdoors.  Deer Park residents typically enjoy the area because it’s close enough to Chicago and other towns and villages, but it is also self contained so that you can run to the store without traveling too far. Most residents just find that Deer Park is a very convenient place to live.

Neighborhoods in Deer Park are generally mature with houses ranging from the quite old status to the relatively new.  You can find relatively historic homes as well as more modern style condominiums and such that are perfect for people looking for something with a little less upkeep.  As a whole, the zoning code requires a minimum lot size for most single family homes.  Residents of Deer Park have set a goal to maintain the greenspace that sets the tone for the area.

According to the census of 2000 there were 989 households in Deer Park and 899 families.  Deer Park is a favored place to raise kids, with 47.9% of households in the village having kids that are 18 years or younger.  Married couples comprise 87% of the households while 9.1% were non-families, and 2.3% consisted of people 65 years and older.

For nature lovers and bird watchers, Cuba Marsh and Ela Marsh Forest Preserves are favorite destinations.  And, south of the village, the Deer Grove Forest Preserve provides ample opportunity for spotting wildlife and enjoying the outdoors. 

New Construction in Deer Park
Red Seal have recently built a subdivision of town homes with a few single family homes very close to the Deer Park Shopping Mall. Also along Deerpath Rd, there is a small subdivision of semi custom homes on 1 acre lots plus. Other new construction is limited to a few custom homes on vacant lots as much of Deer Park is already developed.

Do The Deer Come To Deer Park?
Almost a silly question but yes they do. I lived in a ranch home in Deer Park from 1997 to 2003 and my home backed up to the forest preserve. We regularly saw the deer tracking into the preserve. We had a fenced yard and they used to jump the fence to come in and lie down. However I have to say now I live in Lake Barrington we see more deer here more often.
